It was the ideology behind the establishment of "Sri, Sri Bayababa College.An etymological analysis of the word "Mahakalpara" reveals that it is the pada (abode) of Supreme Lord Shiva (Mahakal) It is the place where the divine peace and serenity reigns for ever.
Mahakalpara, in its geo-political location, is a Block headquarter of the coastal district Kendrapara. It is twenty five Km away from the District Headquarter and 105 Km away from the state Headquarter, i.e-Bhubaneswar. It has demographic strength of near about 2 lakhs as per 2011 census. It is enjoying the status of an Assembly constituency, The Blue water of Bay of Bengal kisses its beautiful land. Because of topographical advantage, the Dept.of Defence has installed a Naval base which assumes military significance.
Although it happens to be one of the most politically sensitive nerve-centres of Odisha, it has not received due attention of the state Govt. Till the monsoon of 1978, it was an island bereft of the facilities of Higher Education. A prodigy hadto perish or pedal a distance of 25km through the muddy streetsto kendrapara for Higher Education. The aim of foundation of every society is the education of its youth. This idea struck a cross - section of persons from different walks of life who founded the foetus of the institution.
Every institution has a glorious part of its own, when Sri Sri Bayababa College is not exceptional to it. One eminent educationist namely Bishnu Prasad Bahalia, in the company of a bunch of promising and enterprising activists like Brajendra Jena, Nrushinga Charan Routray, Kailash Chandra Panda and Krushna Chandra Biswal convened a meeting of the local gentry. As per the resolution of the meeting, the foundation stone of the college was laid by Sri Nalinikanta Mohanty, the then incumbent member of the Legislative Assembly of Odisha (Rajnagar Constituency) on the auspicious day of 7th August 1978, in the place consecrated by the holy presence of Great saint Nama Charya Sri Sri Bayababa. Since spiritual blessing constituted as a catalytic force for the smooth and steady growth of the institution, the college was named after the great saint. The college is dreaming to scale dizzy heights in the sphere of higher education. Such is the great saga of history behind the establishment of this college.
